The CAPTAIN integrated system approach is built upon the concept
of a single Client Database for all individual clients and family
members served to which all departments of the agency have access.
The net effect of this approach is to ensure that all programs
and departments use consistent information. When family data
changes the information is available to any program that serves
the client. This has also facilitated taking a dramatically
different approach to serving clients more effectively by using
a customer service approach. The ability to deal with clients
by using case management tools provides intake workers and case
workers with greatly increased capabilities to serve clients
more effectively.
By
using a single point of entry for services regardless of the programs
involved, the system can determine to which services within the
agency the family should be referred and certify their income
eligibility at the same time. Programs can work cooperatively
with each other with service delivery made faster, easier, and
more effective.
