The
CAPTAIN Information System is the backbone of our products but
we also provide a wide range of support services that gives
our users access to a wide range of support and technical products.
Customers
have the option of using CAPTAIN on their own in house server
and network or they can take advantage of our Web services and
access their protected database using the Internet as their
network on our secure Web hosted server.
Within
our package we offer technical support, system maintenance,
installation, training, consulting, and custom design and programming.
We also resell the services of specialists in networking, telecommunications,
and hardware maintenance.
Custom
System Design and Programming
CAP
Systems staff can handle any special design or development requirements
an agency may have to supplement the full functionality already
in CAPTAIN.
Technical
Specifications
We
work with new users to develop the technical specifications
for their system based upon the size of the agency, numbers
of users, clients served, staff size and other factors. Other
issues are the need for remote users and development of a wide
area network and the best methodology to apply given the customer's
situation and needs. When users want to upgrade their system
or expand their networks, we work with them to develop the specifications
to go out to bid to obtain quotes. We also assist in evaluating
quotes and proposals from suppliers in order to make certain
that the proposals are responsive.
Now
that we offer CAPTAIN over the Web, we work with users who choose
that option in selecting a local Internet Service Provider to
make certain that the agency will have the bandwidth it needs.
Based upon the number of users and where they are to be located,
we can recommend and install the most cost effective methodology.
This may be isolated dial up users or creating an office network
that allows multiple users to share a single telephone line.
In every case, we will look for the best method for the situation.
Users
can use any Widows workstation, Win 95/98/NT/2000. Our servers
are the most advanced 64 bit processors available anywhere and
are contained within a security package that ensures the integrity
of the system and database. The system has two separate levels
of password security within a system that detects illegal attempts
to gain access. Data can be encrypted in virtual private networks
and the operating system has one of the US Government's highest
security ratings by the Department of Defense.
Networking
CAPS
can assist you in determining what kind of network is best to
meet the needs of your agency - Internet, private network, and
combinations. We consult with you and also deliver the finished
product. Whatever the situation, internal networking needs or
tying in your remote program intake or Head Start locations
into the agency wide network. We meet with you to evaluate your
existing situation and make recommendations on how to best utilize
what you already have or start from scratch and build using
the newest technology choices to save on costs but delivering
the best. We install hubs, routers, wiring, patch panels, modems,
and recommend networking software to bring the most incompatible
components together.
